Sutra tracing with a brush and ink and emptying one's mind through zazen meditation both come from practices of Buddhist monks. The word zen, closely tied to these very practices, has become a well-used word all over the world. Due to language barriers, travelers often find zen experiences hard to access, but that is where otomo steps in to help.
This tour is based in the temple-covered city of Kamakura, where you can experience sutra tracing, zazen meditating and a Japanese tea ceremony, while visiting different temples for each experience. This well-balanced tour also provides you the chance to try matcha tea and Japanese confectionery whilst enjoying the view of a Japanese garden.

Highlights

・You will visit a different temple for each experience, giving you the chance to explore the grounds of three different, wonderful temples.
・Prepare your own sumi ink for sutra tracing.
・Get the experience of a shortened version of the sado tea ceremony and taste matcha tea and Japanese confectionery.

・We have not included any particular lunch/dinner places on this tour, but you are welcome to stop for a break and eat whenever and wherever you like.
・This tour is not recommended for children. There is no speaking allowed in the venue for sutra tracing and meditating.
・No need to worry if you cannot kneel for sutra tracing, as this will be experienced sitting on a chair.
・Please come dressed in comfortable and appropriate clothing for zazen meditation.
