Climb a world heritage, Mt.Yoshino, feel like a monk!

A mountain with a sacred atmosphere, another world is waiting for you

Registered as a UNESCO World Heritage, Mt.Yoshino in Nara has many shrines and temples to see. It is a spiritual place where the monks used to practise to gain enlightenment. In this tour, you will climb Mt.Yoshino and see World Heritage sites such as "Kinshiyama Temple" with its large Buddha statue, and "Yoshino Mizuwake-Jinja" hidden in the mountains.
Don't miss the spectacular view from the top! If Spring, the cherry blossoms will be in full bloom and you will see a view like no other.
Want to get away from the busy city, and experience serenity? This is the plan recommended for you, you will feel refreshed after seeing the vibrant nature and historic shrines.


・Walk around the mountains and shrines of a world heritage, "Kiisanchi no Reijo to Sankeimichi" (Sacred Sites and Pilgrimage Routes in the Kii Mountain Range and Surrounding Cultural Landscapes)
・Each shrine and temple has its own unique atmosphere, different to other regions


・Kinpusen-ji Temple Black Gate: Take on the role of a monk and start your Mt.Yoshino experience!
・Kinpusen-ji Temple Torii: Next stop is the Torii of Kinpusen Temple. The monk goes through this Torii, saying he will prepare to get away from the "real" world and enter the world of training.
・Kinpusen-ji Temple: The main mountain for Shugendo (Japanese mountain aesticim incorporating Buddhist concepts)! It is well known for its large Buddha statue in the open nature. If you are lucky you maybe able to see a monk training!
・Notensan Temple: A temple located 455 stairs down from Kinpusen Temple. The stone steps and torii are surrounded by forests, and a mysterious looking mossy Jizo. Let's descend halfway to take a look!
・Tofu-Chaya Hayashi: Let's take a lunch break at a tradional Japanese tofu restaurant. From here we will take the bus to the top of the mountain and hike down whilst stopping by at the observation deck and temples. Let's experience the path of the monk!
・Yoshino Mikurami Shrine: Get off the bus and hike to the Yoshino Mikurami Temple, surrounded by forests. The grounds have nearly 500 years of history. Get a feel of a very shinto temple.
・Hanayagura Observation Deck: Let's enjoy the maginificent view over Mt.Yoshino! The first stop, Kinpusen Temple, will seem so far away!
・Chikurin-in Temple: A temple from over 1200 years ago! Visit the ryokan, from 500 years ago, and a beauting Japanese garden.
・Nakai Shunpu-do: It's been a long day, let's relax by eating delicious Kuzumochi. The shopkeeper will explain and make fresh kuzumochi for you. Did you know? Once prepared, kuzumochi has a best before date of 10 minutes!


・Please wear confortable clothing as you will be walking mountain roads
・If it is raining, some routes may change
・Lunch (dinner) spot is included
・On Wednesdays, "Nakai Shundeido" is closed. Please note that we may change courses when other spots are temporarily closed
