There are still many kimono shops in Kyoto and high-quality kimonos are made there. There are a lot of kimono related shops in a small area in Kyoto because kimono consists of many parts such as cloth, kimono ties, and accessories.
You will visit facilities where you can make a kimono cloth yourself on this tour! There are much more techniques in making a cloth than you think like dying.
You can experience such techniques originated in Kyoto at specialized shops! Choose your favorite shape, color, and pattern and make your own one of a kind cloth!

Highlights

・Have a dying experience of “Kyoyuzen” style: a famous dying technique originated in Kyoto, in a beginners class!
・Experience the tie-dying technique! It is really professional a craftwork and you can do a part of it by yourself! You will have your one of a kind pattern only for you!

Attractions

・CHISO: A traditional kimono shop with a history of longer than 450 years which sells stalls and other accessories. You will start your tour here and discover the technique of kimono making. They also have a valuable collection at their gallery!
・Kyoto Shibori Museum: Experience the technique of tie-dying which is a technique to draw patterns on a cloth with twisting it. You can make your own scarf with an original pattern!
・Marumasu-Nishimuraya Kyo-Yuzen Workshop: A workshop where you can experience the dying technique originated in Kyoto. Find your favorite shape, color, and pattern and you will easily have your one of a kind accessory!
・Kyoto Shabon-ya: You can make your own small and cute soap here while enjoying footbath!

Notes

・Please come in comfortable clothing, as this tour involves a lot of walking.
・The tour begins and ends in different locations. If you would like to change the location of where the tour ends, please consult with your tour guide.
・On Wednesdays "CHISO" is closed. If any of the scheduled places are closed on the day you visit, your tour guide will take you to an alternative location.
・The expenses below are not included in the tour expense and you will have to pay it on the spot. You can choose courses you want to take.
-Making a scarf with tie-dying technique: JPY3,000~ / 1person
-Dying a handkerchief: JPY1,000~ / 1person
-Making a soap: JPY1,000 / person
