・Visit specialized shops with traditional merchandise such as Japanese traditional paper, wrapping cloth, and incense. They also have modern versions of their product!
・Enjoy the combination of tradition and innovation! You will like the modern art exhibition in a traditional building, which is really Kyoto-ish.
・Rakushikan The Museum of Kyoto Shop: A shop specializing in paper with such an extended variety of paper that it feels like you are in a small museum! There are many products related or/and made from paper such as stationeries, accessories, knick-knacks, and pieces of art. No doubt you will find a perfect souvenir here!
・Gallery of Kyoto Traditional Arts&Crafts: A gallery which exhibits beautiful modern pieces of art using the traditional techniques. Feel the inherited elaborate craftsmen’s technique! You can also watch craftsmen working right in front of you!
・Kyoto Furoshiki Store Karakusaya: A shop specializing in “furoshiki”, a traditional Japanese wrapping cloth which changes from a bag and a scarf to everything depending on the situation and the one who is using it. They have many kinds of traditional and modern patterns.
・Kyoto Art Center: A facility that uses the building which used to be an elementary school. This facility offers artists assistance regardless of their age and genre of art. There are many kinds of events held here such as exhibitions, workshops, shows, and so on.
・Nishiki Market: A market essential to the food culture of Kyoto since many people from housewives and tourists to cooks visit this market every day. Learn also the culture, history, and techniques of food here! of course, you can eat-and-walk cheap and delicious foods!
・Lisn Kyoto: A incense shop famous among incense lovers in Kyoto. They have more than a hundred kinds of them! Even those who are not big fun them become a regular customer, once they buy it here. It might be the best place to get your souvenir since they are cheap and the quality is superb.
・Please come in comfortable clothing, as this tour involves a lot of walking.
・The tour begins and ends in different locations. If you would like to change the location of where the tour ends, please consult with your tour guide.
・We have not included any particular lunch/dinner places in this tour, but you are welcome to stop for a break and eat at resting spots.
・On Tuesdays and Wednesdays "Kyoto Dento Kogeikan" is closed. If any of the scheduled places are closed on the day you visit, your tour guide will take you to an alternative location.
