Uji is a major production area of tea, many high quality green teas are produced here. There is an overwhelming number of food with matcha on the road to Byodoin. Ice-cream, jelly, bread, noodles and even beer! Those of you not keen to matcha, this will surely change your image!
Moreover, you can even try matcha powder making as well as a tea ceremony!
Uji is the only place you can experience tea ceremony with a great view of world heritage!

・Matcha is a fine powder, therefore it can be mixed in many gourmet items. Find many unique matcha foods here.
・In addition to Byodoin temple, there is a hidden world heritage. Uji temple is known for its rabbit themes, it has unique rabbit omikuji and souvenirs!
・Nakamura Tokichi Honten: Located in Ginza, Osaka and overseas, the headquarters of this popular tea house is located in Kyoto! There are many cafes with endless queues, but in this plan we will good use of time. Let's buy take-outs from the cafes and enjoy them quietly at home.
・Masuda Chaho: Matcha soft cream topped with freshly ground matcha powder is the favourite! With a rich green tea taste, and ground matcha sprinkled on top this is most certainly pleasing to the eye and mouth!
・Akamon Chaya: A tearoom with a window in the shape of a heart is located in front of Byodoin. Enjoy slowly the smell of green tea, or even learn how to pour matcha. There is even matcha beer! It will relieve the tired body from walking, a beer good for your health!
・Byodoin: A world heritage, and the temple engraved on the Japanese 10 yen coin. The building and golden phoenix are beautiful, and the figure reflected in the pond is extraordinary. Enjoy the beauty that leaves you thinking about paradise.
・Fukujuen Uji Cha Kobo: Experience making matcha from the necessary matcha ingredients. Top-it off by tasting the matcha you made! Grinding matcha in the mill is simple, but getting out a delicate scent is difficult! How does the matcha you ground taste like?
・Uji Jinja: It is a small temple, worshipping the same God as Ujiga Jinja. There is a saying that if you find 3 rabbits, your wish will be granted! Why don't you try one of the rare experiences in Japan?
・Ujigami jinja: Find another world heritage site here. It is the oldest temple in Japan.
・Please wear confortable clothing as you will be walking a lot
・Tour finishing spot is different to meeting spot. Please contact your tour guide if you would like to change the finishing spot
・Lunch (dinner) is not included, but meals can be purchased at rest spots
・Akamon Chaya is closed on Wednesdays. If other spots are temporarily closed we will change tour plans accordingly.
