Kobe has been flourishing as a port town since about 1000 years ago, and especially from around 200 years ago, it started to receive the western culture. There are still many buildings made from brick and stone built by wealthy men and large companies in the last century.
You will visit the famous tourist spots among those historical buildings on this tour! Each of the spots is unique such as a red western building in a Japanese garden and a building with a beautiful contrast of green and white.

・Shosen Mitsui Building: Your tour to visit western buildings will start here at a dynamic skyscraper! This building with a history of almost 100 years is still used as an office building! Lucky them who are able to daily use such a beautiful building!
・“Kaigan Biru”: There are many modern skyscrapers in Kobe, but this spot is a building with a history of longer than 100 years! The red gate door is so cute that many fashion magazines shoot their pictures here! Many couples also take photos for their wedding ceremony! The building itself is not just a photo spot but is still used with restaurants and shops in it!
・“Kobe Yusen Biru”: A historical building built on the site of the first American consulate! This building has cloths shops in it so you can enjoy the interior design of the building while choosing your favorite sophisticated men’s clothing!
・Old Kobe Residency 15th hall: A valuable building from the days when Japan used to designate where foreigners should live in Japan(1868-1899). This is the only residence remained from back then. You can see the building technique of the time since the sewer still remains!
・“Kyukyoryuchi 38 bankan”: A traditional building made from stone. There are Even though the building itself is old, it is fashionable enough to have the latest restaurants and brand boutiques in it!
・“Moegi no Yakata”: Not only buildings but western houses are also famous in Kobe! This spot was built in the late 19th century after the Kobe Port was opened for the first American consul general, Mr. Sharp. It is built on high ground so you can see the beautiful city of Kobe from the sunroof on the second floor!
・Kazamidori Hall: One of the iconic buildings of Kobe made from brick. It was build in the early 20th century as a house for Mr. Thomas from Germany when the Kobe Port was opened! There is an exhibition showing the life of Mr. Thomas back then!
・Star Bucks Kitano Ijinkan: It is not just a usual Star Bucks you see in every town. It uses a wooden building which is older than 100 years! The interior design differs between floors and rooms so pick your favorite one to relax and have a cup of coffee!
・“Soraku-en”: This is the final spot of your tour which is a park with a Japanese garden. There are two western buildings in this park! There is also a boat that a famous samurai used to use it 300 years ago in this huge park. It is a nice and gorgeous park that wedding ceremonies are also held!
・Please come in comfortable clothing, as this tour involves a lot of walking.
・The tour begins and ends in different locations. If you would like to change the location of where the tour ends, please consult with your tour guide.
・We have not included any particular lunch/dinner places in this tour, but you are welcome to stop for a break and eat at resting spots.
・On Thursdays ""Soraku-en"" is closed. If any of the scheduled places are closed on the day you visit, your tour guide will take you to an alternative location.
