Otaru is a town in Hokkaido famous as a popular tourist spot in Japan, and also famous for craftworks. This is a tour to discover why it is called “the town of craftworks”. You will make your own glasswork on this tour! An up-and-coming craftsman will teach you how to make one. Although it is a bit hot when you are crafting, the feeling after your work has done is beyond description! You will also visit other kinds of craft and professional shops such as an embroidery shop, a candle shop and a “Soba” restaurant, a popular Japanese noodle made from buckwheat flour. You will be surprised by their passion and skill! Don’t forget to book your trip to discover the “town of craftworks”!

・Make your own glasswork taught by an up-and-coming craftsman! The studio is a bit far from the tourist spot but your otomo guide will take you there so there is no need to worry about it. This is the only place where you can craft a glasswork while appreciating the beauty of the Sea of Japan. 
・You will also get on a ferry boat! Seeing from the sea, you will find a totally new Otaru compared to being in the town. You can feed seagulls if you are lucky! 
・Explore the spots known to those in the know! Your otomo guide will take you to spot not so famous but loved by locals. 
・You will also hit a candle studio. These handmade candles are really beautiful! Maybe you can make one yourself! 
・Try “Soba”, a popular Japanese noodle made from buckwheat flour! We will take you to a locally popular “Soba” restaurant.

・kim glass design: A glasswork studio of an up-and-coming craftsman who is becoming famous not only in Otaru but in Japan. You can make your own one of a kind glasswork here while you are watching the Ses of Japan.
・ Summer: Otaru Ferryboat "Aobato"
A sightseeing boat heading from the northern port of Otaru to the city of Otaru! You can overlook the city of Otaru from the sea while feeling the sea breeze. A cute seagull might chase after the ship!!
・Winter: Otaru Kihikan
It is one of Hokkaido's leading large-scale mansions, which is said to be the “Northern Art Mansion”. Also, the total construction cost is about 3 billion yen when converted to the current price, and you can appreciate the luxurious interior!
・OTARU TIMES GARDEN: A café located along Otaru Canal. It is really chilling here since you can watch the canal from the café and even relax on a hammock! Make yourself comfortable in your own way!
・Hataitou: A factory of “Tairyobata”, fishermen’s flags that are hoisted to indicate a big haul. Once you step in the factory, which is older than 140 years, you will see “Tairyobata” and towels and “Happi”, a traditional costume worn during festivals. There are many craftworks here supported by the craftsmen's skill here.
・Otaru Candle Studio: A shop specialized in candles. They have an extended lineup of candles from those they make it there to those from all over the world. There are many candles only available here, which will be a great souvenir! You can also make a candle yourself.
・Yabuhan: A “Soba” restaurant that is really popular among locals. “Soba” is a popular Japanese noodle made from buckwheat flour. The “Soba” you eat there in a traditional Japanese styled interior is the best of the best! You can choose between “Soba” that use only buckwheat flour produced in Hokkaido and the one that mixes flours produced in Japan and outside Japan.

Notes

・Sunday and Public hoidays will not be operated this tour.
・Spots to visit differ in summer and winter. During the winter season when the Otaru Ferry boat "Aobato" is closed, we will visit "Otaru Kihokan" instead.
・The glassworks will be delivered a few days later. You can pick it up either at the place in Japan where you are staying or after returning to your home country. If you wish to receive it in Japan, please confirm the mailing address (hotel address) in advance.
・It is very hot during the glass making experience. We recommend that you take a short-sleeved shirt to join this tour, especially during the summer season.
・On Tuesdays "Yabuhan" is closed and on Wednesdays "OTARU TIMES GARDEN" is closed. If any of the scheduled places are closed on the day you visit, your tour guide will take you to an alternative location.
