Otaru is a major tourist city in Hokkaido famous for its canal. Most of the tourists visit the “southern part” of the canal but you will visit the “northern part”! The northern part still has the scenery it used to have when Otaru was a flourishing port town!
The attraction of this tour is the kimono experience! You will wear a kimono and walk around the area. A professional kimono clerk will help you put it on! The tasteful scenery of the northern part fits very well with kimono. Don’t forget to bring your camera!

・Visit the northern part of Otaru canal! Most of the tourists visit the southern part but the northern part has a tasteful atmosphere so it fits very well with kimono!
・The resting spot is also unique to Otaru! You will visit a café using a historic building.
・Pay a visit to the only sake brewery in Otaru, a ruin of an old rail line, and a fashionable knick-knack store!
・Rental Kimono Recycle Kimono Tsujichu: Have a kimono experience here! The clerks will help you put it on so you don’t have to worry even it is your first time to wear a kimono! The northern part of the Otaru canal fits very well with kimono!
・Chuo bridge: Let’s start your tour to the northern part of the Otaru canal. This spot is a bridge on Otaru canal. The image of the Otaru canal on magazines and TV shows are taken from a different angle but the image you can take at this spot is also beautiful and not so famous, which makes it a special picture for you!
・Otaru Canal Park: A park that tells you that Otaru used to be one of the major spots for trading in Hokkaido. You will see the old Otaru canal on the way to the park. It still remains the old scenery which used to be there!
・Otaru GOLDSTONE: A café using a historic building. The coffee you will have in a profound brick warehouse is superb! Let’s have a break here!
・Tanaka Shuzo: A sake brewery established in 1899. You can try 10 different kinds of sake in the shop made from wood which is designated as a historic monument by the city! Find your favorite sake!
・vivre savie + mi-yyu: A knick-knack shop dealing with merchandise with good taste from all over the world. It is the best place to find your souvenir! The building is designated as a historic structure by the city.
・Former Temiya Railway: A ruin of a railway which was essential not only to the prosperity of Otaru but of Hokkaido itself! The nostalgic atmosphere with a kimono is a perfect match! Pictures taken here are popular on SNS. Let’s take pictures here and get many “Like”s!
・You can have a kimono experience on this tour. (The kimono experience fee is not included in the tour expense. Experience fee: 3,800JPY/hour) You don’t have to have the experience, it is up to you. Please let your guide know the number of people, sex, hight, and the shape of those wanting to join the experience beforehand.
・We have not included any particular lunch/dinner places in this tour, but you are welcome to stop for a break and eat at resting spots.
・On Mondays "Otaru GOLDSTONE" is closed. If any of the scheduled places are closed on the day you visit, your tour guide will take you to an alternative location.
