Kobe History & Food Tour! Enjoy Kobe Port and Local Food Culture
0.0/5.0

Feel the history and taste the local cuisine in the shopping streets of Kobe, where the old townscape remains.

Kobe is famous for its cityscape and beautiful harbor views. However, these are not the only attractions of Kobe. Why don't you take a deeper look into the history of Kobe and the lives of the locals?
Kobe has many historical sites left behind, especially the canals that have remained over 100 years.
Also, there are still many old shopping streets in Kobe, such as butcher shops and grocery stores where locals go shopping. Furthermore, you can
feel the daily life at taverns crowded with the locals.

This tour will take you to temples and museums where you can learn about the history of Kobe, and to restaurants where you can taste local food loved by the local people!
You can see one of the three largest Buddhas in Japan at a temple, which closely relates to the development of Kobe's port.
Next, you will visit the new museum and learn about the history of the region in an easy-to-understand and fun way with exhibits that make full use of the latest technology.
You can also taste the local delicacies in the shopping district, which has flourished as much as Asakusa in Tokyo. There are many unique stores, such as an oden shop that has kept its soup stock for over 20 years, and a retro coffee shop with a famous master.

We recommend this plan for those who want to know more about Kobe.

Attractions

Shin-Nagata
The city has a simple, unpretentious atmosphere. It has a series of unique shopping streets where you can taste local gourmet food that you have never tasted before. It is an area with lots of Okonomiyaki restaurants in Japan, famous local food in Kansai.
Hyogo Prefectural Hyogo-no-tsu Museum
This is a museum where you can learn about the history of the region. The architecture, which recreates the prefectural office when Hyogo Prefecture was born, is valuable in showing the prosperity of that time. As the museum was built in later 2021, you can also experience the latest technology.
Nofukuji Temple (Hyogo Daibutsu)
This is a historic temple with over 1200 years of history. Noteworthy is the Hyogo Daibutsu, one of the three largest Buddhas in Japan. It stands 18 meters tall, and you should experience its power with your own eyes.
Shinkaichi Shopping Street
Shinkaichi is a town that was famous as a cultural center, being compared to Asakusa in Tokyo. It still retains the atmosphere of the good old days of Kobe, which has become less common today. Your tour guide will introduce you to some of the best stores among the unique stores.
Kobe Harborland
A facility locates on the west side of Kobe Port. Have lunch at a restaurant where you can enjoy a unique Kobe meal. The view from the facility is also a must-see, with its vermilion Port Tower, whistling cruise ships, and brick warehouses that remind us of the prosperity of the past.
